I found it tricky to write the recipes but I did a good job.

Contractions

We are learning to find contractions in our stories. We know that contraction are two words that are squashed together. I can find contractions easily because they have an apostrophe in them.

I am getting better with contractions and knowing what the two words are that are squashed together in a contraction. It is tricky to write the contraction and know where the apostrophe goes. My next step in reading is to learn about fiction and non-fiction.

Fractions

We are learning about fractions. We know that one quarter is when we cut something into four pieces. We also learnt about halves which means we cut something two pieces. Fractions are ½ ¼ and ⅓. With fraction you start with one whole and you cut it into pieces.

I am good at fractions because when you have one whole and you cut it into 2 pieces it is a halve and if you cut it into 4 pieces it is a quarter. My next step is to learn to add two numbers together by counting on from the biggest number.

Compound sentences

We are learning to write compound sentences. We know that a compound sentence is two sentences that we put together with ‘and’ ‘but’ or ‘because. It can be tricky to make sure we join two sentences together and not just another word to a sentence.

Skip counting in 2's

I am good at counting in 2's because I just miss one number. It is still tricky to skip count backwards. I like maths because it a lot of learning with numbers.

Base words and word endings

It is easy to find the word endings but it is tricky to sound out the root word. I like reading because I like to read books. My next step is to find contractions.

Capital letters and full stops
